Cogges Manor Farm and explore our favourite place in the whole of the Cotswolds. Full of fun, history, and friendly farmyard animals, this historically important farm can trace its origins back to the castle that used to sit in the grounds of the current farm. A favourite with TV and Film crews, we will tell you which famous faces have loved their time filming here and which Prime Minster named the Sandy and Black pigs after his daughters.
Marvel at the pre-restoration wall paintings that have been uncovered in St Nicholas’ Church in Asthall. Known for the Mitford sisters, one of the most famous sets of siblings in the 20th century when at Asthall your guide will explain who the sensational siblings were, how one rose to become a Duchess and Lady of one of the countries greatest country houses, and how another included Adolf Hitler and Joseph Goebbels amongst her wedding guests!
Have lunch at either The Swan Inn, one of Burford‘s many historic eateries, or if you prefer (and the weather permits) why not bring a picnic* and enjoy eating alfresco next to the River Windrush in the wonderfully quaint village of Shilton.
After lunch we will continue to the historic village of Bampton, which can trace its history back to the iron age. Here you will have chance to explore this stunning village, its ancient church, and even see the grave of a real-life crusader!
